About Texas

*Texas is the second-largest U.S. state by both area and population, and the largest state in the contiguous United States. Located in the South Central United States, Texas is bordered by Mexico to the south, New Mexico to the west, Oklahoma to the north, Arkansas to the northeast, and Louisiana to the east. Texas has an area of 268,820 square miles, and a growing population of 25.1 million residents.

Houston is the largest city in Texas and the fourth-largest in the United States, while San Antonio is the second largest in the state and seventh largest in the United States. Dallas-Fort Worth and Greater Houston are the fourth and sixth largest United States metropolitan areas, respectively. Other major cities in Texas include El Paso and Austin--the state capital. Texas is nicknamed the Lone Star State to signify Texas as an independent republic and as a reminder of the state's struggle for independence from Mexico. The "Lone Star" can be found on the Texas State Flag and on the Texas State Seal today.

Ever since the discovery of oil at Spindletop, energy has been a dominant force politically and economically within the state. The Railroad Commission of Texas, contrary to its name, regulates the state's oil and gas industry, gas utilities, pipeline safety, safety in the liquefied petroleum gas industry, and surface coal and uranium mining. Until the 1970s, the commission controlled the price of petroleum because of its ability to regulate Texas's oil reserves. The founders of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) used the Texas agency as one of their models for petroleum price control.

Texas has known petroleum deposits of about 5 billion barrels, which makes up approximately one-fourth of the known U.S. reserves. The state's refineries can process 4.6 million barrels of oil a day. The Baytown Refinery in the Houston area is the largest refinery in America. Texas also leads in natural gas production, producing one-fourth of the nation's supply. Several petroleum companies are based in Texas such as: Conoco-Phillips, Exxon-Mobil, Halliburton, Valero, and Marathon Oil.*Source - Wikipedia

Texas Oilfield Factoring - More information

What is Oilfield Factoring? Oilfield Factoring is a transaction where an Oilfield Service Company sells (Factors) its Accounts Receivables, or invoices, to an Oilfield Factoring Company in order to improve cash flow. With Oilfield Factoring, the Oilfield Service Company will have immediate cash available for payables, payroll, maintenance, or improving equipment. Oilfield Factoring is not a loan, and therefore no debt is incurred.

At Texas Oilfield Factoring, our program is different from a bank loan in two significant ways. First, Texas Oilfield Factoring places the emphasis on the value of the Receivables, not the firms credit worthiness or fixed assets. Secondly, Oilfield Factoring is not a loan, it is the purchase of a financial asset (the Receivable). The Receivable is a financial asset associated with the debtors liability to pay money owed to the seller for work performed or goods sold. The seller sells its Invoices (the Receivables) at a discount to Texas Oilfield Factoring to obtain the cash needed for day-to-day operations.

Oilfield Factoring transfers ownership of the Receivables to the Oilfield Factoring Company. The account debtor is then notified of the sale and then remits payment directly to a lockbox designated by the Oilfield Factoring Company.

At Texas Oilfield Factoring, we provide other mission critical services including credit analysis, risk assessment, a/r management, billing, collections, treasury and 24/7 web reporting.

The three parts to Oilfield Factoring

There are three integral parts to an Oilfield Factoring transaction.
    1. The fee, this is the amount an Oilfield Factoring Company will charge you for the service. Most Oilfield Factoring Companies will charge you a Factoring fee also known as a service charge as well as interest based on how long it takes the debtor to pay.
    2. The advance, this is the percentage of the face value of invoice, the Oilfield Factoring company pays you upon submission of that invoice.
    3. The reserve, this is the remainder of the total Oilfield Invoice amount held until the payment by the account debtor is made in full.

The Rise of Oilfield Water Hauling

Why Oilfield Water Haulers are Extremely Important for the Oil & Gas Industry

The oil patch needs water haulers - a typical drilling operation produces vast amounts of salt water and waste fluid by-products that need to be removed and disposed.

Oilfield water haulers use vacuum-equipped tanker trucks to transport waste fluids away from drilling sites to regulated, approved drilling and disposal sites.

But, water haulers don't just haul water; they're often required to handle multiple duties on a daily basis. Oilfield water haulers are often responsible for filling out tickets and locations, assembling paperwork such as timesheets, water tickets, and keeping accurate records of loads.

More importantly, a water hauler must be versatile. Oilfield water haulers are usually required to do some light lifting, and all professional water haulers need to make sure that trucks are maintained and in good working condition. Often, vac pumps must be greased and oiled, oil, tires and hoses are fitting daily.

Oilfield Water Hauling Evolves from Hydraulic Fracturing

Increasing a well's production isn't a new idea. Hydraulic fracturing entered the oil industry as early as 1949, just not in the same form as it is today. Starting with America's earliest oil discoveries, early oil exploration companies used dynamite or nitroglycerin detonations to increase a well's production. But by 1990, Pennsylvania's Otto Cupler Torpedo Company was the last to send liquid nitrogen in an oil well. Today, hydraulic fracturing is used in the majority of U.S. oil and natural gas wells to enhance well performance, minimize drilling and recover inaccessible resources - as much as 90% of all wells in operation have been fractured, boosting production greatly in tight gas sands and shale deposits.

Oilfield Water Hauling Takes Off in the Oil Patch

With the recent prominence of hydraulic fracturing in the oil and natural gas fields, oilfield water hauling has quickly become an integral component of the oilfield industry. Hydraulic fracturing is highly dependent upon the importance of oilfield water hauling: water is used during the initial drilling process, as well as the subsequent fracturing processes. Mixed with clay and other chemicals, the water delivered by water trucks is used to carry shale cuttings to the surface for disposal.

The water supply delivered through water hauling is also critical to the lubrication and cooling of the drill bit. When fracturing the shale, water haulers deliver supply that is injected into the shale at incredibly high pressures, thus creating a series of thin cracks that release trapped sources of natural gases and petroleum. These important water supplies are transported by water trucks that deposit their loads in impoundments or tanks for storage prior to its consequential use.

What Equipment do Oilfield Water Haulers Use?

The emerging field of water hauling means the necessary development of new equipment and technology. Water haulers operate with a vacuum pump mounted on the tractor behind the cab. On average, the standard oil patch vacuum semi-trailers are 120 barrel units, and require strong, durable underpinning to survive the overwhelmingly treacherous terrain of an oil patch. Using over the road tractors in this geographical climate is risky, and threatens to harm the integrity of the driver's vehicle and equipment: axels and springs intended for over the road use are vulnerable to snapping and breaking when introduced to an oil patch's topography.

Additionally, water hauling drivers are equipped with heavy-duty hoses specifically designed for water hauling, and thus capable of enduring the immense pressure necessary in the process of hydraulic fracturing. These preparations to equipment and vehicle alone are not sufficient for successful water hauling: instead, any individual hoping to undertake the process of water hauling must first undergo comprehensive training.

The water supplies carried by water haulers come from a diverse range of sources, including creeks, rivers, lakes, groundwater, and discharge water from industrial plants. At other times, water hauling trucks may indeed reuse fracturing water from prior projects.

How Successful Oilfield Water Hauling Companies Grow

Running a successful oilfield water hauling isn't easy. With the ups and downs of oil pricing, as well as the competitive nature of the oilfield industry, oilfield water haulers need to assert themselves aggressively to grow. And though many oilfield services provider market their services and their companies differently, the most successful oilfield water haulers have one thing in common - fast, affordable access to working capital. Without a steady flow of cash, oilfield water hauling companies run into difficult situations where they need to hire employees or purchase equipment without the necessary financial means. Often, water haulers turn to factoring (or accounts receivable financing) for business growth. Unlike a traditional bank loan, factoring doesn't tie your company into a limit or a capped amount of financing. With factoring, the amount of money you can finance grows as your receivables grows. That means the more successful you are, the more immediate access to steady cash you will receive.

If you're looking to take your oilfield water hauling business to the next level, consider factoring with TCI. Our dedicated staff is ready and waiting to get your oilfield water hauling business on track. Call 800.707.4845 to learn more.
